Hello Gorgeous – What do you do when you have a bad haircut?

I will not bore you with the details of my experience but it was a pretty traumatic experience with relationship to my hair. I thought it was a good question since who we are in the world and how we project ourselves is important and the first thing people see is our outer appearance and our hair is very much part of that and if we do not feel comfortable with who we are projecting it can effect how we interact with the world and ourselves. So do you tell the stylist you are not happy?  Do you spend money on another stylist and buy products to make it better to the tune of over $200?  Or do you keep quiet and continue to see that person without saying a word and continue to pay them, hoping for the best?  I just read an article about how to break up with your stylist.  It happens all the time and someone you pay money to make you look good should be doing just that, right. Not have you in tears.  You would not continue to go back to the same restaurant if the food was bad, would you? While I was looking for products I did find a couple I wanted to share.  Pravana Nevo Model Behavior and their shampoo is pretty good too (you can find this line at Ulta).  Also Kevin Murphy Young Again Immortelle infused oil, & Undressed Fiber Paste are great (in Santa Cruz County Salon Santa Cruz, Click Click Bang, Kepare. The jury still out on Killer Curls for me anyway, but if you have curly hair this stuff looks...

Hello Gorgeous – Accessorize Anyone

I don’t know about you but I think that accessorizing can make or break an wardrobe/outfit.  You can go from drab to fab.  If you go to work with a tank and a sweater (skirt or pants of course) with flats and are going out that evening and add heels or boots and a cute jacket, some bling and a handbag with personality, or a scarf to pop that outfit you are ready for a night with the girls. The thing about fashion is it is personal and all different depending on your style.  I love to layer but that is not for everyone.  I get compliments all the time, some of them have no bling on at all but would love to know how to add some to say hear I am.  You can say that quietly and understated or boldly and dramatic.  I am the latter.  It has to be you and that you feel beautiful and special.  You know when you have something you love on.  You even walk differently.  Taller and more confident. So ladies look at your wardrobe and shop your closet, what do you need to bring to this season, need some help, give me a RING. Scarves are hot right now and there are so many great colors and prints to pop any outfit. Take a walk on the wild side, I will see you...

Hello Gorgeous – What NOT to wear Networking!

Hello Gorgeous, This may seem obvious, if not girlfriend I am here to help.  You have to remember why you are there. You want to make a great first impression. You are looking for clients of strategic partners. According to researchers from NYU, we make 11 major decisions about each another  in the first seven seconds of meeting. Studies have also shown that non-verbal  cues (how we look) can weigh heavier than verbal ones (what we say). Source: http://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/inc-well/What-Not-to-Wear-at-Networking-Events-Ladies-Edition-180789731.html#ixzz2L7w3XGg5 So here is the list of Don’ts to keep in mind for networking or business in general: Hooker Heels: You know the ones I mean the 6 inch ones.  If you can walk in them great but not for business. To Much Cleavage: You will get attention, but is it the kind you want? To Much Makeup: If you are unclear about this ask a friend that you trust and will tell  you the truth.  For a clue on this one metallic and super long false eye lashes can look really dated and very Cruella de Vil.  Look at stars like Jennifer Aniston or Julia Roberts they keep it simple and look amazing doing it.  Show your stuff from within. Ladies if you have a friend that could use some help, be a good friend and find a tactful way to show her the way. Ill Fitting Clothing: This can be a hard one but skirts to short and jackets to big or to tight and that is what people will notice. Take a second look in the mirror before you leave and check the back too. To Much Cologne: You do not...

Hello Gorgeous

I cannot believe it is 2013.  I am happy about it and that we are all still here.  It really never felt like the holidays and 2013 although I am optimistic for this lucky year, I have been very reflective. How about you?  I will speak for me and I  am  so tired of the past few years and the uncertainty of digging out of our own personal issues or where the country is going?  Speaking of where the country is going, the infighting seems to have followed into this year.  I for one am tired of mom and dad fighting and ‘we the people’ in the middle.  I seem to remember that we vote people in and they work for us? Not the other way around?  When did all this change and we get stuck in the middle of this crap, yes I said it crap… What does all this have to do with Fashion? Not a darn thing! Just needed to get this off my chest and love to hear your comments as well. Okay moving on to where Fashion is going in 2013.  First color, color, color.  I love it bright and fun Bling it on… is what I always say. The colors for spring are rich and bold and soft and femine.  Which means that whoever you are and whatever your style your covered for style and fashion for 2013.  Instead of inventing the wheel here are what the fashion sites are saying about this spring. *Color awakens the senses, bringing us new ideas, new directions and ultimately new destinations. With expectancy, color inspires us to build a...

Hello Gorgeous – What to wear to work this summer…

Hi Ladies, Hope you are having a great week so far.  Well our weather has been on again off again so far this summer.  What to wear this summer whether you are going to the office or meeting with clients is important.  Whether we like it or not we are juged in the first few seconds of meeting.  We all do it, do the scan. Make you are putting out the right message.  If you want to be taken seriously regardless of what you do.  I found this article below from Forbes and it has great advice. I would love to hear from you.  What are your do’s and don’ts on the professional scene?   A woman’s wardrobe is an essential component of her presentation. It is as important as her handshake, her eye contact and her attitude. While you should steer clear of flip flops, shorts, tank tops and scented sunscreens, stylist Stafford says there are some more sophisticated ways to add a beachy feel to your work look. Brighter colors and lighter fabrics, like linen and cotton, bring both men and women comfortably into the season. Footwear also makes a statement. She says in most fields open-toed shoes are acceptable, as long as your feet are clean and manicured, and this season chunky heels and wedges are huge. A bold, vibrant nail polish and lipstick also add personality and style. Grin And… Bare It? Long, sticky days and blistering commutes may drive anyone to peel off the layers, but how much skin you bare does make a difference. Stafford says sleeveless tops are appropriate in the office—“if...

Hello Gorgeous – Putting your best self forward…

Hello Gorgeous, I am not sure you are aware of Ellen Whitehurst, she is an Better Life Expert and Shui-astrolger.  I love to have any information that will help me in the month to be bolder or hide under the covers.  She has a Fashionista Corner on her monthly news letter and everything I have been saying is right here.  I love it when the planets are in sync.  So read on and enjoy.  This does say for job hunting but it applies to everyday wardrobing.                         *Okay all you recent college grads now about to go looking for your first big job in the big, wide world, this one’s for you. And for anyone else out there pounding the pavement in search for some payment for your passion. I’ll start by reminding that it only takes TWO SECONDS for someone to form a first impression of you, and, yeah, although first impressions ideally shouldn’t be based on our looks alone, well, unfortunately that’s not the reality. We are living (and hopefully soon working) in a competitive work so any advantage you can bring to the party, all the better. Enter Feng Shui! Here are some tips that will allow you to get a leg up while also getting that all important proverbial shoe through the door: • Before heading out the door do be sure to organize your entire closet. Remove any clothing that needs addressing or mending as well as clothes that no longer fit you and/or things you haven’t worn in a long while. Give them...

Hello Gorgeous – Who are you?

I know it is an interesting question.  This is some what of a departure from fashion and style, but not really.  I have been reading this book from Debbie Ford that has a new book out called “Courage” Overcoming Fear & Igniting Self – Confidence.  Powerful title, right, and she lives up to it.  I have always loved both her and Marianne Williamson.  They expose themselves to help others be the best them they can be and use their experiences to tell a tale of love for self that is if taken to heart and you do all the lesson’s you will come out on the other side better for it.  It is a must read for every women.  If you are not familiar with Debbie Ford she also is responsible for the Shadow Effect.  She just goes to the core of who we are.  The pages are not filled with blah, blah, blah.  The stories of women and what they had gone through and Debbie’s own story will have you looking at your own story.  We all have a story, a past that pushes us forward or keeps us stuck.  When I hear of some of these and other courageous women that have made a difference it makes me want to be a better me.  If there is one thing I know for sure is that we are all worth it.  How we feel about who we are is the person we show to the world.  To be authenic no matter who that is, warts and all is beautiful. So I urge you to check out this book:...

Hello Gorgeous – Old is New Again

I am sure you have noticed but they recycle styles and just something to make a little edgier or toned down.  Have you ever thought of adding lace or a sheer fabric on a top or jacket to update it?  Some of the styles have the elastic at the waist or hips (I do not need anything else at my waist or hips). I took it to the  cleaners who is going to take the elastic out and put a hem in it for me and it will be flowing and not clinging.  This is an easy fix for $10. i love the tYou have to think outside of the box and mix it up. If you cut up something that is old and your never wear what is the worst that can happen?  You throw it away…  There are no rules when it comes to mixing.  It can actually make you look very hip instead of dated.  Make sure you look in the mirror front and back and if you are still not sure take a picture.  This may also give you some insite to your style and the beliefs you have about style and fashion.  It can hold you back from being the fun flirty women you...

Hello Gorgeous – What if the Colors for this season are not for me?

Hello Gorgeous, Are you curious how to pull off the trends if you do not feel the current colors are for you.  First do not be a slave to fashion   (seriously I found this picture from fashion week) One of those colors that is not for everyone is Tangerine.  However, you can still pull it off.  I personally love the navy with the tangerine.  So for instance if you can wear navy (which most can) then choose a fund sandal with tangerine in it or a handbag.  If you have a handbag you love then find a scarf that has tangerine in it and tie it to your handbag.  This way you are not making a full on commitment to tangerine and it is a small in vestment.  This is a great way to incorporate fund colors into an existing wardrobe. Take a look at sites like Aldo, Zappos and Nine West for ideas on color. Here are some examples below....

Hello Gorgeous – What is your Jewelry Style?

Do you love bling?  It is the easiest way to accessorize and jazz up and outfit.  I personally do not like everything matchy.  Your jewels should make a statement, not hide or blend in to much. It also gives you more flexibility.   I love all bling but especially turquoise to snap the color, it goes with most everything.  This season with all the different shades of orange the turquoise looks really hot and fun.  Your bracelet, necklace, earrings and rings do not have to match and it shows your individuality.  It is great way to express who you are without breaking the bank.  There are a ton of cool jewels out there for you to choose from.  If you have jewels already then experiment with outfits you love or you think make need a little something extra.  If you are new to adding jewels then a shopping trip should be in your future.  Again experiment with color and styles you like and that speak to you.  Those are the pieces you will keep and wear for years to come.  Bring a couple of colors you love to wear and see how the contrast works. Now throw on your favorite dark wash jeans and favorite top and denim jacket and have some fun.  Need some company, give me a RING to help find your...
